The Melbourne Novell Users Group (MNUG) is a non-profit organization, committed to promoting the exchange of information among users of Novell's many products. MNUG is a local chapter of Novell Users International (NUI), and therefore provides access to the full range of NUI benefits.|
Members meet once a month to discuss specific Novell issues, as well as more general computing concerns, in a friendly and informal atmosphere. Novell users at all levels of expertise are welcome, from novices right through to hardened veterans. Members are from a diverse background and include end users, CNAs, CNEs, MCNEs, CNIs, CNSs, CLEs, CLSs, etc. Prospective members are welcome to attend any monthly meeting.
Meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month (except December and January), in the auditorium at the Novell Offices in Melbourne (8th floor, 574 St Kilda Road). Meetings usually commence with an open forum Question and Answer (Q&A) Session, Novell News and a Vendor Update. After a brief refreshment break there are technical presentations (not sales pitches) from industry representatives.
A newsletter - COPY *.MNU - is published on the web, and contains a wide variety of interesting and informative submissions. Among the regular articles are editorial pieces from the President, NUI Representative, contacts from within Novell and the COPY *.MNU Editors.
Apart from the monthly meetings and newsletter, members benefit by having access to the Group Library and Web Site. The Library contains reference books and software, and provides access to User Group newsletters from around the world, Novell AppNotes and other related publications. The Web Site offers information about MNUG and useful links, as well as access to patches, utilites and other files.
NUI benefits include a subsciption to the Novell Connection Magazine, membership discounts on conferences and Novell Press publications, access (via the Group) to the NUI Network, Group subscription to AppNotes and Novell Support Connection, and perhaps the biggest benefit of all - the opportunity to meet others in the networking industry and share ideas and successes (and failures?).
For more information please feel free to make use of our official contact details, or contact one of our Executive Members directly, or simply turn up to one of our monthly meetings (which will probably mean contacting one of the listed people anyway, if only to confirm the time and location of the meeting). Also, the MNUG Membership Application Form is available should you decide to take the plunge regardless!
