ManageWise New Licencing Model

From: Marc Heymann

The licensing model has changed from server-based to a node-based model, similar to that used by GroupWise. Each workstation on the network counts as a node; print servers count as a node; servers and printers (unless not specified otherwise by the licensing agreement - MLA) are not considered nodes.

In many cases, the customer will not have to upgrade all of their previous licenses. For example, if the customer had 3 servers and 100 users and they had a 100-user license of ManageWise 2.1 on each server - they only need to upgrade to a single 100 node license of ManageWise 2.5. This covers their needs for all 100 users with complete functionality on all servers.

However, if the customer decides to use the NMAs for server management, they can buy one agent for each server and a 5 user ManageWise license (in order to get the console). From this 5 user license, the customer must not use any functionality other than the console and the NetExplorer NLMs (no virus protection, no LANalyzer Agent, no desktop management).
