You're not paranoid - GroupWise Notifier IS watching ...

GroupWise 5.x Notifier for Win95/nt

Many users who were used to GroupWise 4.1 comment that notifier does not work.

The behaviour has changed. If it never wakes up then you need to right click and select "options"

Look in the "Update taskbar image window on the right. Highlight "Mail Box" and any other folder you want the notifier to monitor for new mail and click "Apply".

The notifier will display for a default 15 seconds. You can change this to a maximum of 32767 seconds.

You can also change the polling from 5 minutes to a minimum of 1 minute. The icon may indicate you have new mail with a envelope displayed over the world icon but the polling cylce determines how low before the notify window with message prompt is displayed. This could be minutes later.

If you see the icon has changed after a break you can view the last prompt by double clicking the notify icon on the task bar.

There is a patch kit in beta for GW5.2 and a second patch kit is now available for 5.1. There is a Patch kit coming for gw4.1 to fix daylight saving problems.
