- Keynote 1: Computer Associates - "Intelligent Storage Management"

This presentation will focus on "a day in the life of a storage manager". Rod will focus on dealing with some of the myriad of challenges faced by system administrators on a daily basis, including:
- Managing a geographically dispersed heterogenous backup environment across multiple platforms
- Immediately dealing with backup operation problems
- Restoring an executive's data stored on their laptop
- Producing management reports
- Reviewing storage volume levels and trends and planning for the continued growth in storage requirements

- Keynote 2: GrangeNet - "Advanced Communications"

- What is GrangeNet?
GrangeNet is a three year program extended for two more years to install, develop and operate a multi-gigabit network supporting grid and advanced communications services.
- EduRoam:
EduRoam allows roving researchers to log-in, with their usual "user name/password", to a wireless networks at participating campuses around Australia and the World and gain access to resources at their home institution. The program, which is based on inter-institutional trust, originated in the Netherlands and is rapidly spreading across the UK, Europe and now Australia.
- DDCMS Prototype Project:
The Distributed Data Centre Mass Storage (DDCMS) Prototype project will permit GrangeNet to demonstrate the utility of distributed storage attached to a high performance, research network: the distribution of storage in this way is fundamental to the creation of virtual data centers.
- AccessGrid Recorder:
The GrangeNet AccessGrid Recorder is being designed to provide a storage resource for the capture of access grid streams as a prerequisite to asynchronous playback, cataloguing and long-term storage of meetings, conferences, educational sessions and presentations.
- IPv6 Deployment:
A brief update on our deployment of native IPv6 in Australian Universities.
- Multicast Deployment:
A brief update on our deployment of Multicast in Australian Universities.

- Moonwalk is an Enterprise Data Management system that allows the Netware System Administrator to design and deploy centrally-managed business rules throughout the corporation. Moonwalk manages the migration of data, automatically transferring targeted files from Netware primary storage volumes to secondary tiers and beyond, reducing the total cost of ownership for data while ensuring it remains safe and immediately accessible

- The Excom Training Team will present two seperate training sessions. These will be run twice each, with attendees swapping classrooms in the middle, so that everyone will be able to attend both sessions.

- Session 2: Linux Sys-admin Skills
- Please note that the training PCs, and seating, are stricly limited to 12 attendees in each of the two sessions, therefore it will be necessary to book in by sending an email, with your name in it, to: rsvp@mnug.org.au. Entrance to these sessions will be granted in the order that the RSVP emails are received. Within reason, extra attendees will be admitted, but they will not get access to a training PC and may not even get a chair, so please reply ASAP!
